Services / Web Design and Development
Websites built by hand, to be found and to be fast.
No page builders, no templates with the logo swapped. A site designed around what your business actually does, written in your voice, built to pass Google's speed and quality checks, and handed over in accounts you own.
A site doesn't launch until it clears these.
These are the checks we run on our own work before you see a launch date. This page passes them; you can test it.
- Performance
- Lighthouse 90+ on mobile, Core Web Vitals passing, images sized and lazy-loaded
- Search
- Unique titles and descriptions, one H1 per page, clean URLs, sitemap, structured data, no duplicate pages
- Accessibility
- Keyboard-navigable, visible focus, contrast checked, alt text on every image, form fields labelled
- Security
- HTTPS, security headers, no exposed admin paths, dependencies pinned and updated
- Ownership
- Repository, hosting and domain in your accounts; handover document delivered
Left bar measures what your browser actually downloaded for this page. The right bar is a common weight for template-builder sites with hero video and unoptimized images; your mileage varies.
Every second of load time costs you people who were about to call.
Most business sites are slow for boring reasons: a 4 MB hero image, three tracking scripts nobody remembers adding, a builder framework loading features the page never uses. Fixing that is not clever. It's just work, done carefully.
We build pages as plain HTML first and add scripts only where they do something for the visitor. That's why our sites pass Core Web Vitals without a performance consultant, and why they keep passing a year later.
Four kinds of site, scoped and priced as projects.
Each is quoted against a written scope. Changes to scope are changes to the quote, in writing, before the work happens.
Business websites
Five to twenty pages that explain what you do to someone who has never heard of you, and get them to call. Includes copywriting, design, build and launch.
Landing pages
Single pages for a campaign or offer, built to convert one kind of visitor, with the tracking wired so marketing can see what happened.
Online stores
Shopify or headless storefronts with product data set up properly, checkout tested, and the operational plumbing (shipping, taxes, email) working on day one.
Rebuilds and rescues
Sites that are slow, hacked, unmaintainable or stuck on a builder you want to leave. We move the content, keep the URLs that rank, and fix what was wrong.
Questions
What do you build with?
Static-first sites on Astro or Next.js for most business websites, Shopify for stores, and WordPress only when a client's team needs it for editing. We pick the stack for the job and tell you why.
Who owns the site when it's done?
You do. Code is in a repository you control, the domain stays in your registrar account, and hosting is in your name. We hand over documentation for whoever maintains it next, even if that isn't us.
How long does a site take?
A five-to-ten-page business site typically takes four to six weeks from a signed scope to launch, most of it spent on content and review. Stores and larger sites are scoped individually.
Do you write the copy?
Yes, if you want us to. Our writers draft from interviews with you, and every page is edited by a native-level English editor before you see it. If you have a writer, we design around their words.
What happens after launch?
A monthly care plan if you want one: updates, backups, uptime monitoring, small content changes and a quarterly performance check. Or nothing, and you call us when you need something.
